The Final Countdown

10/23/2016

After weeks of planning (and a little unnecessary fretting) we’re down to the final days before the conference!

For those of you who haven’t heard, the NCFIC is putting on their annual conference in NC this weekend. The topic is, “The Fear of God” and it looks like it’s going to be a fun, encouraging and exciting weekend!

I’ll be there, (hopefully selling a few copies of A Higher Ransom) and having a great time of learning and fellowship with other believers!

As each second draws us closer to this big weekend, I am constantly reminded of the scripture in Jeremiah that says:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I don’t do well with uncertainty. And right now, in this phase of my life, I’m getting a good bit of it.
But what gives me the strength to journey on? What gives me the peace to live life joyfully day unto day? What gives me the hope that whatever happens today or tomorrow, that everything will work out fine? That scripture you just read is the answer. Who knows our plans? God does. Who makes our plans? God does. And what will those plans do? They will give us a future, a hope.

I’m not saying everything that happens to you will be all happy and perfect. That would be great if it did, but life just doesn’t work that way. I know plenty of families right now who are struggling every day with the fact that they might not have a family member with them in the following months.
They’re going through a lot of uncertainty right now. But I know without doubt what keeps each of these families with the spirit and attitude they have every day. They know who holds the future. And they’re content to let Him guide them through each hour and take their burdens upon Himself. They find rest in God, who desires to hold our burdens. (“
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30)

I’ve decided that the future just isn’t worth worrying over. What will worrying do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not. One. Thing. It won’t and can’t change anything.
Is that to say that I don’t worry about anything? Um, no. I still worry, a good bit more than I should. But when I start to worry, I just have to reflect upon the words I just wrote. And upon the fact that God has said in His Word not to worry, (“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7)

Are you worrying about something in your life right now? If so, take it to the Lord. Please, give it to Him and let Him worry about it for you.
I’ve found it works much better that way. He alone will give you the strength and peace to journey on.

If you’re able to make it to that conference, or if you’re already planning to attend, I’ll look forward to meeting you there!

Stay up to date with my future blog posts, I’m pretty close to the point of sharing some really exciting news!

Dear Aleigha,
Congratulations on starting a blog!
What encouraging and true words. Thanks for sharing.

I am going to the NCFIC conference this year as well. I've never attended one before, but have really enjoyed audio messages from past years.
What are your favorite parts of the conference? Also, do you have any recommendations on how to prepare? (Like tips for taking notes, etc.)

Have a great rest of your week!
Safe travels,
Leah

Hello, Leah!
Thank you for the kind words! :) We have been to other NCFIC conferences, but never to this one specifically. Some of our friends have, and they’ve advised us to dress warmly. They say it sometimes snows! But either way, it’s sure to be quite chilly. As for taking notes, I am definitely no expert, but I’ve found in a conference setting that it really helps to have a hardback notebook vs. a softback. And it always helps to have a few extra pens or pencils on hand. That’s so exciting that you are going to be able to make it to this one! I’m looking forward to seeing you there! :) 

No matter how dark the night gets. <3

When I'm not blogging, writing, or dreaming about owning a monkey, I can usually be seen working on products for my business, Literary Treasures Co, encouraging fellow chronic illness warriors, or watching k-dramas. ;)
